What are Israel Bonds?

The Israeli government issues Israel Bonds and sells them in the US through the Development Corporation for Israel (DCI). DCI pitches them to states, counties, cities and pension funds as safe investments.

Treasurers buy them quietly, usually with no public vote or press. Emails obtained through records requests show DCI sales staff pitching treasurers directly.

Since October 2023, US states and cities have bought billions in Israel Bonds, even after Israel's credit rating was cut. The figures above are only what we can document.
